About

Mahmon Productions is the production company of actor Wayne Murphy-Jerrett.

Working in collaboration with other creatives, Mahmon Productions make compelling short films that showcase the possibilities of low-budget independent film making.

In addition to building a portfolio of quality work, Wayne hopes to inspire other actors to produce their own independent films.

The Coming Tide

In the narcissistic age of the selfie, an embittered middle-aged man mourns the demise of society. But, when life-changing news hits, he decides the time has come to fight back.

The Coming Tide was created as an experiment to see what could be achieved working entirely alone with limited resources.

It was filmed with a second-hand Canon C300 and a single studio light, then edited with stock footage, and enhanced with some basic visual effects.

The aim was to see how close to a big-budget film an actor can get, whilst producing a glorified self-tape, at home alone.

Three Brothers Grim

With their mother needing round the clock care two brothers argue over who is pulling their weight, whilst the third brother takes matters into his own hands.

Three Brothers Grim features stock footage leading into shots filmed separately by each actor, cut to give the illusion of a live conversation.

The cast never met. Directions were given via text. Various cameras were used, including a webcam. Extensive grading in post helped marry the formats together.

Audio was recorded directly on the phone each actor was holding in the shot.

Tam’s Brother

A prisoner on death row writes a goodbye letter to his brother.

Tam’s Brother was made by editing stock footage around simple self-filmed shots.

Lit by two home desk lamps and a single halogen fresnel for the rim light, Tam’s Brother was filmed on the Canon 5D MkII using a 50mm prime lens.

Voiceover was recorded separately with a HyperX Quadcast USB Mic.
